Advent Peace: It is Well With My Soul

The author of the hymn we know as "It Is Well With My Soul," Horatio Spafford, was no stranger to tragedy. Perhaps that's why his hymn continues to resonate with us. It reminds us that God’s peace is not about the absence of chaos; it is about God’s presence with us in the chaos. This Advent season, as we light the candle of Peace and reflect on what it means to worship the Prince of Peace, we remember that the peace God offers is not passive. God's peace is active. It meets us in our pain and transforms us through the presence of Emmanuel—God with us.
